Travel to Bahamas / Bahamas Vacation Rentals

Vacation Rentals Bahamas The Bahamas is a country. A country of 700 different islands and cays. The islands differ physically: pine forests, white sandy beaches, limestone caves, lush plantations, bonefishing flats and the world's third largest barrier reef.

They differ historically: Indigenous Arawak Indians, Seminole Indians from Florida, Eleutheran Adventurers from England, post-Revolutionary planters from Carolina and pirates all settled here. Even Columbus paid us a visit in 1492.

Each island has something unique and unexpected to contribute to your island vacation. 700 islands!! Just by design it has to have more beaches, more water sports, more golf and tennis.

Bahamas is blessed with the perfect location — less than 100 miles off the coast of Florida; amazing climate — averaging a little over 75 degrees; and the perfect setup — crystal clear turquoise blue waters and pearly white sandy beaches. The Islands of the Bahamas is the perfect travel destination for your wedding, siesta, party, honeymoon, or family vacation.

Vacation rentals in the Bahamas provide you very good lodging solution.

Bahamian Culture and Sports

Bahamas Vacation Rentals Bahamian culture is a hybrid of African and European influences. The popular forms of music include Junkanoo, rake and scrape, calypso, and a unique form of hymnal, known internationally through the music of the late Joseph Spence.

In the less developed outer islands - islands outside the capital Nassau, known as the "Out Islands" or "Family Islands" - crafts include basketry made from palm fronds. This material, commonly called "straw", is also plaited into hats and bags that are popular tourist items today.

Regattas are important social events in many family island settlements. A strongly religious country, there are more places of worship per person in the Bahamas than many other nations in the world.

Officially, the national sport of the Bahamas is cricket. However it is a sport that is declining in popularity. Track and field, soccer and rugby are fast becoming popular with the Bahamians.

Bahamians have won Olympic gold medals in sailing (Sir Durwood Knowles and Cecile Cooke in 1964), and track and field (Tonique Williams-Darling in the 400m, 2004) and women's relay team (the 4 by 100m in 2000).
